For example the photo above was given an aged and distressed look by applying the brushes on a layer set to Overlay blending mode. 1. Hello Gavin. I’ve got a question for you. You say that these brushes are for personal but non-commercial use but I’ve always had a doubt about what is commercial & what isn’t. For example: If I use this tutorial (& brushes of course) to put the result on my porfolio, isn’t that considered commercial? I mean, somebody can pay me for a similar job, for which I’ll need to use these brushes.
So, if you can tell me at least your opinion I’d thank you.

Thanks & Greets from Buenos Aires, Argentina (Hope it is London, England someday)
    Marcelo.

    1. It’s a grey area for sure and I get plenty of emails on the topic. The uses varies from things which are fine (like putting photo on your portfolio) to needing permission (like selling a photo to a client that uses my brushes/actions) to out and out no no’s (like selling my brushes / action to a third party). I treat every case on it’s merits.

  2. Hi Kevin,

    Greetings from Sydney, Australia!

Just downloaded light rays, painted-corners and cracked-brushes.

    Thank you very much.
    John

  3. Hi Gavin. Only just found you on the next and must congratulate on your easy to understand Photoshop style. Great lesson on the cracked border. I though it really suited the attached image which my parents took in Japan Circa 1934 -1936.
