Home Studio Essentials Episodes 1-10
If you’ve been watching my recent videos over on Adorama TV you’ll have noticed a pattern forming. Over the past months the majority of the videos have focused on shooting with flash in a small, home studio and judging by the feedback it seems to have gone down very well indeed. I think part of the reason for their popularity is the way each video builds on the previous skills learned, at least that was the idea I had when I originally planned them.
Gear is always a big part of photography but none of the videos need a specific brand of equipment to complete. I used my trusty Canon 5D2 and 24-105mm lens. My flash gear is supplied by Adorama and is their amazing Streaklight flashes. If you want to know more then you can read my review.

These videos are without a doubt the most usefull photo-tips I have ever seen on the Internet (and I have seen a lot!!!). Very cool, very usefull and very well explanied! Just a quick question. Can you tell me how big your studio is?
I’m looking to build one in my garden and looking at sizes etc.
The shooting area is very roughly 16′ by 25′ bigger is nice but TALLER is more useful. Mine is anly about 8′ at its highest point 🙁

It gives me something to go on. Was thinking about 20ft x 30ft Height wise, anything over 8 foot should require planning permission. I’m hoping to eliminate the need for Planning Permission by digging down 6 foot and building frm there.

Thank you for such a great series. I really like your style and delivery, and you make things understandable.
Your videos are awesome. You keep things very simple and easy to manage. I like the way you post the original shot with the settings and then show how you edit them. Too many of the videos out there only show the final print. This misleads the audience into thinking that the prints aren’t every adjusted. Thanks for the great information.

There are / were no plans but as the timber came in 2.4 meter lengths I suspect each side was around 60cm 😉
